Bars “a little later”
Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day
This little hideaway is awesome! The atmosphere is excellent, with indoor and outdoor seating. You can watch the sunset as you have dinner on the water! Service excellent!!! The food was outstanding! Senior Chef knows how to make a great meal!!!
We are locals and one of us has lived in the area since 1992 and have been coming to Pops ever since. We especially enjoy the "specials" nights (burgers, fish tacos). We have never had a bad experience and in the past reserved a large party for our veterans group. Everyone from that party raved about the food, service, etc. Highly recommend the endamame salad, a delicious alternative side instead of fries.
Always fun at Pop's. Outdoor bar area is nice. Cool the night we were there so ate indoors. Spicy shrimp appetizer is great.
Pop's is as unassuming as the name, but has a lot of room, both inside and out. It is on the water, so you can also dock your boat there. The menu is seafood and bar food ,but with many offerings. The service is good and it can be a place for a fun lunch or a romantic dinner. Regarding the latter, they have added large, communal tables with fire places in the center that make for both a fun and enticing atmosphere. They seat 10, but there is plenty of room for the people and the food. They also have a variety of tasty cocktails in addition to the beer and wine. Prices are reasonable and you can find something for any budget. All in all, Pop's is a good Florida experience, whether you're dining as a couple, or with a group.
We decided to go to Nokomis beach the last day I would be in town and I checked out Trip Advisor to find lunch. What a treasure we found! We had to wait quite a while, but it was well worth the wait. Our food and drinks were fabulous and the atmosphere right on the water watching the boats go by is another great part of the experience. My parents even went back after I left. I am already missing their food.
